If you follow me on Instagram, you might remember back in February a number of us participated in a 5-day yoga series #PrAnaSpringStyle #PoseOfTheDay with fitapproach and prAna. As part of the campaign, I received Gabi Leggings for my participation. Super cute and comfy! I love doing little yoga challenges and getting creative with the pose of the day. Bellow are a few pictures of the poses we did. Each day, we were given a promt – such as one leg balance- to Interoperate into whatever pose we associated with that word. This was really fun because we all would interoperate it differently. Dancers pose and crescent lunge are definitely two of my all-time favorite poses, but I loved doing them all.
My love affair with yoga began a few months ago as part of my active-no-impact-recovery from an injury. I love yoga for all the reasons you'd think I'd hate it... It's challenging. You see, I'm not a very flexible girl, I have the worlds tightest hamstrings, my hips don’t lie, I have like zero balance and my back doesn't bend well these days due to some injuries from a car accident. Do I let any of that stop me? Nope! Yoga makes me feel powerful. I feel like my body is aching for this. My whole body wakes up and says, “oh Mandie, thank you, THANK YOU!!” Especially after days of running, occasionally pushing myself with my personal trainer and putting strain on my body from my intense workouts. Yoga forces me to slow down and be in rhythm with my entire body.
As a runner, stretching is a MUST, it is so important for your body and your muscles. When you train, your muscles get nice and tight. What better way to lengthen and strengthen your muscles than to spend a nice long time moving through beautiful, powerful, relaxing poses all while not have a care in the world? Your body becomes in sync with your breaths. Everything becomes peaceful. Everything rolls off my shoulders, the fog in my mind dissipates, my energy radiates back through me. Your body is not your enemy, it is your friend. There are so many different types of yoga too, there isn’t just one. Everyone has their own yoga type that suits their needs and their personality. For me, it's that heart pumping, sweat dripping, breathe deeply & find your inner peace vinyasa flow! ❤
